The D-274 is the top model of the world-famous concert grand manufacturer Steinway & Sons. With its 2.47m length and the correspondingly large soundboard, this grand piano is very assertive, especially in the context of an orchestra, and sounds particularly pure due to the string length. The VSL team has sampled this grand piano in unprecedented depth. By means of a specially developed silent touch robot, it is possible to record up to 100 dynamic levels consistently across the entire instrument. This applies to both the attack and the release of each individual key. Together with the modelled string and body resonance, the VSL Steinway D offers an extremely authentic playing feel.The 520m Synchron Stage Vienna in which this concert grand was sampled is one of the best scoring stages in the world. Its warm surround sound can be heard on many major music productions from chamber music to film scores. The Full version includes a number of additional microphone positions compared to the Standard version.
