RME's ADI-4 DD is the small and particularly inexpensive brother of the proven ADI-8 DD. Despite its compact size (half-19"), it contains all the technology of the ADI-8 DD, but does without sample rate conversion and connections in TDIF format. The unit consists of a converter from four AES-3 inputs to 2 ADAT outputs, and a converter from 2 ADAT inputs to four AES-3 outputs. The double ADAT ports give a full 8 channels, from 32 kHz up to 96 kHz (S/MUX). An XLR input and an output are provided directly on the unit. Industry-standard AES-3 breakout cables can be used via a 25-pin sub-D connector. Via a single internal connector, the assignment of the Sub-D connector can be easily adapted to cables designed for devices from Tascam (Digidesign), Yamaha and Euphonix.
