The Drawmer MC7.1 Surround Monitor Controller is a combination of a 7.1/5.1 and a stereo monitor controller. It is functionally perfect for imaging and reviewing surround recordings and mixes, but also demonstrates its ability to monitor stereo sources. As a robust desktop console, it offers the same high-quality, transparent design as Drawmer's other monitor controllers since the popular MC3.1. With two balanced 7.1 connector panels, a looped 7.1 tap, a balanced stereo input and a convenient front-panel aux input, balanced 7.1 speaker outputs and an independent stereo output, plus the associated subwoofer option, connections abound. Depending on the input format and speaker placement selected, the Drawmer MC7.1 can handle any speaker configuration from mono to stereo and the various surround formats up to eight independent channels. The MC7.1 is a powerful surround monitor controller in its own right, but is equally well suited for monitoring and assessing stereo mixes. In any studio, whether it is a post-production studio specialising in film sound or a small home studio, stereo productions (if not predominantly) are carried out in addition to surround. For this purpose, in addition to the surround capability, the MC7.1 offers the same extensive functions for evaluating a mix as the MC3.1, which are available for the stereo input and for each surround channel routed to the stereo output. The surround mix can be output via the FL and FR speaker outputs or via the separate outputs for the stereo speakers, thus allowing monitoring of any surround channel combination with the powerful cut/solo matrix via the front speakers. Functions known from the MC3.1, such as speaker level adjustment with selectable mono/sub output, the popular solo circuit for the low/mid/high band, the integrated talkback microphone with footswitch control and the connection for an external talkback microphone, complete the extensive features of the MC7.1.
