SiX is a recording mixer with a difference. Two channel strips with SuperAnalogue preamps for microphones, instruments and line sources are equipped with one-knob compressors based on the classic SSL channel compressors. These compressors work with programme-dependent attack and release times, fixed ratio and automatic make-up gain. Two additional stereo channels are also available. The 100mm long faders allow exact level adjustments. The new two-band equaliser can be switched between shelf and bell filters. If the rear inputs are used, up to twelve channels can be summed analogue on the mix bus. A G-series summing compressor then resides on this bus. It uses the classic design from the console, but with fixed ratio, attack and release parameters. For more complex routing possibilities, the SSL SiX offers two foldback busses. In addition, there is an input for a talkback microphone equipped with the typical SSL "Listen Mic" compressor ... which can also be used for other sources such as drum tracks.
