With the OD5, the Austrian manufacturer presents an active-dynamic instrument microphone with an innovative "swivel joint" mechanism.
A prerequisite for a targeted and precise alignment of a microphone is a precisely executed directional characteristic. The microphone basket and the suspension of the capsule are designed to avoid acoustic interference. Thanks to the Open Acoustics technology, sound from the rear can also pass through to the capsule, resulting in an extremely precise cardioid polar pattern. This "linear cardioid" means that sound arriving not only from the front but also from the rear or side sounds good and undistorted. As a result, even the sometimes unavoidable crosstalk from other instruments sounds good.

The OD5 has a special CAB ("Cut & Boost") filter at 80Hz, which is particularly well suited for use with guitar amplifiers, for example. This filter removes low frequency sound that cannot be used and at the same time gives the useful signal pressure in the bass range. The second position at 120Hz is a common 2nd order high pass filter.
