The microphone also offers a linear frequency response, both on- and off-axis, resulting in a very tight, natural and well-defined sound. The low end is punchier and selects the right setting for the beater, while it's easier than ever to remove some of the midrange.

The shape of the DPA 4055 is another unique feature that sets it apart from other kick drum mics. Its asymmetrical design makes it easy to position when pushed into a drum of any size without risking a crack in the drumhead. It can also be placed both inside and outside the kick drum, making it quick and effortless to find the ideal placement. In addition, the 4055 features a large enclosure and ample wind-dampening foam positioned in front of the capsule behind the grille to manage turbulence in front of the drum holes. This is done without compromising sound pickup or quality.
