For pianists who, apart from a clear focus on piano sound and a weighted keyboard, expect that little bit more in terms of sound variety from their instrument. The MODX8 not only boasts 125 years of piano building tradition, but also over 40 years of experience from one of the world's leading synthesizer manufacturers.

The MODX's sound engine shares its underlying technology with Yamaha's flagship MONTAGE synthesizer. The complex AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) sample and synthesis engine, as well as the complementary FM-X (Frequency Modulation) synthesis, have been specially modernised for optimised sound reproduction and even more complex sound design possibilities.

The portable and lightweight MODX was developed especially for musicians with a high demand for mobility. The MODX6 weighs 6.6 kg, the MODX7 7.4 kg and the MODX8, equipped with a hammer keyboard, still weighs a slim 13.8 kg.
