To refine the sounds, both a chorus and a reverb effect are available, which can even be used simultaneously and controlled separately if desired. As the first device of the volca series ever, the second-generation volca fm not only has a MIDI IN but also a MIDI OUT connection, which means that the internal 16-step sequencer can now also be used to control external devices. If the volca fm is played via a velocity-sensitive MIDI keyboard, it can now also respond to its velocity, enabling particularly expressive playing.
The likewise new Randomize function allows new sounds to be generated randomly at the touch of a button. And the sequencer's innovative "Warp Active Step" mode brings particularly unusual rhythm structures to light. In addition to this wealth of new features, the second-generation volca fm of course still retains the classic volca virtues, making it a fully-featured FM synthesizer that can easily be taken anywhere with its integrated speaker, battery-powered option and compact form factor.
