Bronze is an alloy consisting of 80% copper and 20% zinc. 80/20 bronze strings have a very brilliant sound at the beginning, which develops into a soft 'mellow' sound over the course of time. Thanks to the coating, it takes longer for dirt and dust to settle between the windings of the strings. Coated strings therefore last up to four times longer than conventional strings.
