When John Entwistle developed the first roundwound strings together with Rotosound in the 1960s, it was first of all a step forward: these new strings sounded more brilliant than the flatwounds that had been exclusively available until then and had a faster attack and longer sustain. However, roundwound strings also have the characteristic that sweat, dander and dust from the air settle in the spaces between the round wire wrapping, causing the strings to lose sound quality over time.

The coating of the high-quality Nanoweb strings is supposed to counteract this with a kind of lotus effect, but it is so thin that they feel more like conventional strings. Long durability, reduced grip noise and a warm, round sound with a little less harshness than other strings are further plus points of the Nanowebs. They are therefore ideally suited for all those who have a very aggressive hand welding, play a certain instrument such as an A-bass guitar only rarely, and do not want to change the strings for every gig once every two months, or play a rather treble-heavy instrument and want to round off its sound a little.
