The P-90 singlecoil has been built by Gibson since the early 50s and is the favourite pickup of many guitarists because it is much more dynamic than a humbucker, and it is also much more powerful than you are used to from other singlecoils. The P-90 is equipped with vintage ALNICO magnets and makes every amp 'sing', its sound character is rough and bluesy. The P-90 is 'wax-potted' i.e. all internal cavities of the pickup are filled with wax to suppress unwanted microphonic feedback.
