Both pickups use DiMarzio`s patented dual-resonance configuration, creating more harmonic overtones than traditional humbuckers. The Evolution pickups do not sound nice and are certainly not for inexperienced guitarists. However, if you have some experience and a hot amp, you can make your sound burn. The Evolution pickups were originally designed specifically for live gigs. However, they add so much punch and definition to the sound that they are also great for recording: they cut through even the densest mixes.
Recommended for: The Evolution neck model is suitable for all solid bodies and also for most semi-acoustics.
Tech Talk: The Evolution was primarily designed for Steve's Ibanez Jems, but it can also give a Les Paul or similar glued neck guitars much more punch and definition: even the lowest bass notes jump out of the amp naturally, while feedbacks with lots of harmonic overtones come naturally.
