With the Wailer Wah, Electro Harmonix launches a pedal that, at first glance, hardly looks different from a traditional Cry Baby or other similar pedals. It is about the same size, has a push switch and the effect is controlled by a toothed rail that moves a potentiometer. But the devil is in the detail. What looks like a robust die-cast housing from the outside turns out to be an ultra-light, extra-hard polymer compound, which consequently makes the device only half as heavy as comparable products. What might take some getting used to haptically is just right for others, because pedalboards have to be lugged around, too.Sonically, the lightweight is convincing. The frequency to be processed is optimally tuned and presents the Wailer as a good all-rounder. If you look at the price, it is definitely worth considering.
