Since its foundation in 1968, the US manufacturer Electro Harmonix has always been very active when it comes to innovation in the field of guitar and bass effects pedals. For example, EHX developed the first analogue delay, the first flanger pedal, the first guitar synthesiser in pedal format... all building on the success of the Axis or Foxey Lady fuzz, which quickly became very popular thanks to the Stones and a certain Jimi Hendrix. Mike Matthews, who is still the mastermind behind the New York effects company, wanted to develop a device that could produce sitar sounds with an electric or bass guitar, after George Harrison appeared to him in a dream and said that many more people needed to play the sitar. The Ravish Sitar is designed to do just that: it converts the guitar sound into a polyphonic lead voice and creates an emulation of the resonating strings of the traditional Indian instrument, which can be tuned to different scales and respond dynamically to every nuance of playing. Connections for two expression pedals allow the playing of the bendings so important in classical Indian music and the infinitely variable control of the volume of the resonance string drones. So whether you want to add some interesting sounds to your music, like in „Love you too“ by The Beatles or „Deliverance“ by The Mission, or drift off into a whole new world of wonderful sounds, the Ravish Sitar makes it possible.
