If you want to name tradition and innovation in one go, Boss is one of the brands that should definitely be mentioned in this context. When the Roland offshoot began to elevate the world of effects pedals with the CE-1 in 1976, it was not foreseeable how much potential the manufacturer would develop over the decades. Guitar to Midi, COSM, MDP should be mentioned at this point. The Vocoder, released in 2016, once again proves this fact. It is well known that the human voice is the most expressive instrument. It can produce an enormous range of sounds. Vocoder technology uses the expressive power for - at best - string instruments, although other signal sources are conceivable. Real-time manipulations, spoken vowels, choruses, wahs controlled by human articulation or traditional talkbox effects can be implemented effortlessly. In the past, keyboardists used vocoders to create electronic textures and voice effects. With the VO-1, this creative tool is also available to guitarists and bassists.
