What should be special about a delay pedal? There are enough of them. Walrus self-confidently calls its floor pedal a multifunctional pedal. First impression - it's quite cramped on the control panel, which has six knobs and two footswitches. This has to be the case, as the unit houses an analogue and a digital section. In addition, we find a tap-tempo control, Ratio, which determines the note value of the tap delay. X provides further modulations depending on the setting. The two footswitches hide further functions, such as holding the effect and controlling the delay length. There is also a trick that can be used to determine whether the echo should fade out or stop when the bypass switch is pressed: Keep the bypass switch pressed while plugging in the mains plug.The sound of the Arp-87 is fully convincing. To describe all the possibilities in detail would simply go beyond the scope of this article. Slap back, shimmer, echo and hard digital delays, everything is possible. And all this without any noise in a box that is no bigger than a Phase 90.
