The MXR M134 Stereo Chorus is considered one of the classics among effects pedals. After MXR caused a sensation with the Phase 90 in 1972, the two school friends and company founders Keith Barr and Terry Sherwood were able to lay a solid foundation for their young company with other standard effects. In the second half of the 70s, they were established enough to take time for more complicated devices. This era saw the creation of the Stereo Chorus.
Despite analogue sound shaping, the pedal produces a very clean and side-noise-free modulation effect. The special features are a 2-band tone control and a bass filter for the modulated signal that can be activated at the touch of a button. In this way, the effect can be optimally adapted to the sound specifications of the instrument.
What was a pioneer decades ago - the term "boutique effect" had not yet been born - is today one of the best standards one could wish for. The M134 sits in a robust metal housing, virtually indestructible, and is self-explanatory in its operation.
