I think it's fair to say that Ikutaro Kakehashi, born in 1930, changed the world of music. The founder of Ace Tone, Roland and ATV, co-creator of MIDI and owner of more than 50 patents, Kakehashi was fascinated by radio and electrical engineering as a child and started his own radio repair business shortly after the end of the Second World War. Kakehashi quickly realised that in order to be successful, his creations had to be cheap, small and easy to understand and use by both amateurs and professional musicians. These experiences ultimately flowed into Boss' compact pedals.
The ODB-3 is an overdrive pedal that is primarily aimed at friends of uncompromising distortion, but can also be used more subtly, for example to give slap playing a little more bite or to help a bass with old strings gain more definition. A particularly useful feature is the balance control, which allows you to continuously control the dry/wet mix ratio to keep your instrument present in the mix.
