The mandolin: a genre of instrument that probably originated in the early Baroque period of the 17th century and found its way from its country of origin, Italy, via France to composers such as Beethoven, Paganini and Mozart. The mandolin also found its place in the music-fanatic Vienna of the 18th century. Today, it is not only the typical instrument of the bluegrass and country scene, but also a fixture on almost every rock and pop stage.Not least for this reason, we at Ortega have designed our mandolins to be modern and contemporary without neglecting the original tradition.
