Yamaha's Pacificas have been around since 1990 and, with the exception of the Mike Stern Signature model, are reserved for the upper entry-level segment. Over the years, one or the other model has been added that stands out from the general mainstream in terms of design. This is not least true for the 311, which is recommended to friends of vintage-oriented sounds with its P90 in the neck position. And also the double coil in the bridge position sounds more like PAF than 81 Hyper Distortion. Moreover, it can be split to create wiry single-coil sounds. As a result, the guitar reacts very dynamically to playing techniques and output when it comes to decay parts and gain stages.
In terms of hardware, the user can look forward to locking tuners from Grover, which minimise detuning problems even with hard strumming by fixing the string in the shaft. The fixed bridge construction supports this approach and also generates a lasting sustain.
The workmanship is typically Yamaha on a high level, clean workmanship, quality components and a classy sound.
