Squier's Classic Vibe '70s Jazzmaster borrows from an instrument that was supposed to be the top model after its release in the late 50s At the time, sales didn't quite go as planned. It was not until the emergence of surf music that musicians took a liking to the guitar. Today, it's hard to imagine the music world without these models.
This version is vintage in the best sense of the word. Compared to conventional single coils, the soapbar pickups sound somewhat broader and warmer, less pointed, ideally suited for supporting rhythms and catchy hooklines. The floating tremolo offers interesting possibilities of expression, where the tuning problems are kept within limits due to careful workmanship.
Fender subsidiary Squier shows once again that a high-quality electric guitar with cult character does not have to be expensive.
