This version is vintage in the best sense of the word. Compared to conventional single coils, the soapbar pickups sound somewhat broader and warmer, less pointed, ideally suited for supporting rhythms and catchy hooklines. The floating tremolo offers interesting possibilities of expression, where the tuning problems are kept within limits due to careful workmanship.
Fender subsidiary Squier shows once again that a high-quality electric guitar with cult character does not have to be expensive.
