It has been common practice for many years that every major retailer offers instruments under its own label. As a rule, these are products reserved for the entry-level segment. On closer inspection, the models often turn out to be usable, and even more so, very well-made instruments.Justmusic presents several electric guitars and basses under the Justin logo, which are based on the traditional designs of American manufacturers. The San Diego Vintage, for example, cannot deny its origins. A solid alder body and a one-piece maple neck are remarkable for the price range, as often only composites or laminated woods are used. The finish and workmanship make a quality impression. Especially the matt, somewhat darkened neck finish is pleasing. The fretboard is neatly trued and the bridge offers enough adjustment possibilities to guarantee an optimal string action. Closed Gotoh-style tuners complete the overall impression.
The sound of the San Diego is convincing. The tops come across crisp. The mid and bass range is defined and conveys a touch of warmth. The intermediate positions develop the sound we appreciate from the American models. The fact that the pickups are reversed and thus suppress annoying humming noises may be considered a further plus point.The San Diego is an electric guitar that will please beginners and offers advanced players the chance of an inexpensive second or travel model with a pleasing appearance.
