The Les Paul, manufactured since 1959, can rightly be considered a technically mature instrument. Stoptail and tune-o-matic bridge, double-coil, hum-free pickups, trapeze inlays, a neck thin enough for comfortable playing and strong enough for expressive intonation, a perfectly crafted top and more are all the improvements that have gone into the instrument since the first Les Paul models were introduced in 1952.
The instrument does not do without the quality features that are so familiar from the Custom Shop: A one-piece mahogany body with a beautifully figured maple top, nitro varnish for an airy sound, and humbuckers with differently wound coils made of special wire (almost like the old PAFs) provide an authentic sound that should appeal to quality-conscious traditionalists and modern musicians alike.
The suffix VOS stands for Vintage Original Specs and indicates a process in which the popular artificial ageing has been applied very discreetly and appears beautifully natural. This process does not leave any rough marks, scratches or traces of use.
