The Fender Jaguar came onto the market in 1964 as the successor to the Jazzmaster and enjoyed great popularity among representatives of surf music in the years that followed. After the surf wave died down, it seemed to have almost disappeared into nirvana. Production had long since ceased and second-hand prices plummeted in the 1980s, which was certainly one reason why less well-heeled young musicians from the grunge and punk scene took a look at the exalted design and helped it to new heights.

In the meantime, the Jaguar has become an integral part of the portfolio of the traditional American brand and so it was only natural that the Fender Custom Shop should also take on the model. The result is a homage to the golden age of American electric guitar making, which is appealing due to its selected woods, especially alder for the two-piece body and rosewood in AAA quality for the fingerboard. The neck is rift-cut; a method of dividing a tree trunk into individual pieces that many musicians swear by, as it combines sufficient neck stiffness with very good vibration behaviour.

Thanks to the finish - the lacquer in „Aged Firemist Silver“ was subjected to the Fender „Lush Closet“-treatment, so to speak, a minimal aging – and beautiful historic-looking details such as the clay dots in the fingerboard, the good also knows how to convince visually.
