The instruments of the American Vintage II series are direct descendants of the original Fender: they were developed for players who appreciate the vintage Fender tone and feel. Since the end of the 60s, the manufacturer had made some changes to its models. CBS had just taken over the production and was looking for ways to make it more economical and still score points in terms of appeal to musicians. what was received with scepticism at the time, such as the 3-point bolt-on neck, now enjoys cult status. Of course, the large headstock has not been forgotten, as it has been manufactured since 1969, and the bullet neck nut is also found on the headstock, as it was in its day.
Special 70s replicas are used as pickups, as they were found on instruments of that decade. At that time, the signature essence had not yet been invented. World-famous guitarists bought off-the-shelf instruments. One of the most popular of them might have been Depp Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who was often seen with a 70s Strat.
