Epiphone, the Asian subsidiary of the US giant, has created a worthy replica that is within the realm of possibility for budget-conscious users. Besides the impeccable workmanship, the careful choice of pickups and the classic design, it is the pickups from Gibson that bring the 1959 Standard closer to the original.
The Burstbuckers 2 and 3, which also have their place on many American Paulas, were modelled on the old PAFs, of which many guitarists speak only with humble respect. The fact is that Epiphone's interpretation of a classic is a worthy alternative, be it for the upmarket entry level, be it as a second or third guitar.
