The KH-3, manufactured in Japan, is based on an American model with a lower cutaway. In terms of construction, the Japanese take a different approach. The one-piece neck is always an advantage when the instrument has a free-floating tremolo, which naturally causes some loss of sustain. Here the neck creates a clearly perceptible compensation. At the same time this gives the possibility to create a particularly supple neck body. Alder as a base wood is known for its overall balanced vibration behaviour.
This very solid substance is translated by the BoneBreaker pickups developed for Hammet in a gripping manner. A powerful attack with plenty of overtones and a sustained decay more than do justice to the master's style.
A Floyd Rose original tremolo allows up and down vibrations without detuning. The KH-3 is, for all its simplicity, an excellent tool for demanding guitarists with higher and loftier ambitions. The recognition value must be rated as high due to the original spider graphics.
