The Semi-Acoustics from the Elektromatic series belong to the great success models of the Gretsch brand. The first version was produced as early as 1949 and delighted early electric rockers like Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent or Eddie Cochran. Even Elvis liked to use it, while band colleague Scotti Moore preferred to play Gibson guitars. The 5420 can convince with a speedy attack, tight basses and a balanced midrange spectrum. The FilterTron pickups give the basic sound a bit of bite for all its richness, which gives the guitar more throughput.Technically, the Electromatcs are beyond reproach. Of course, one should not expect the ergonomics of a modern shredder guitar. Nevertheless, the model lies well in the hand, the notes run smoothly from the hand, thanks to the cutaway up to the highest registers.Since the traditional brand Gretsch has survived the serious crises of the 70s, all kinds of interesting instruments come on the market again and again, which should give a lot of pleasure to fans of jazz, blues and moderate rock.
