GIBSON

Gibson ES-335 DOT P-90, Wine Red

In 1958, the ES-335 was introduced. "ES" stands for Electric Spanish. This does not mean a Spanish guitar that can be amplified electrically. Rather, the idea was to distinguish the playing style from the lapsteels and Hawaiian guitars that were widespread at the time. The number 335 marks the introductory price. At the time, an ES-335 cost 335 US dollars. The 335 series combines the warm sound of archtop full-resonance guitars with the low feedback intonation of solid-bodies. The reason for this is a sustain block glued in the middle of the body between top and back. Equipped with P-90 single coils, the result is a crisp sound with more overtones, especially suitable for crisp solos or transparent chords.
