The current Excel 59 is a modern version of earlier jazz guitars, as company founder John D'Angelico built them in the 50s.
The guitar is a thoroughbred hollowbody and is very well suited for styles between jazz and blues. Even rockabilly should be no stranger to it.
A 16 inch wide, 3 inch deep body radiates a warm, woody archtop tone that is adequately transmitted by two Seymour Duncanp-90s. The guitar cannot deny its look back into history. Old-school mother-of-pearl inlays adorn the ebony fingerboard. The body shape is strongly reminiscent of instruments that were at home on many stages in the 50s, despite the beginning triumph of the "board guitars" of a Leo Fender or Les Paul.
Playability and handling are beyond any doubt. The slightly flattened neck invites virtuoso playing. A high-quality case is included in the delivery.
