The manufacturer is committed to the environment, so fewer materials are used than in conventional instruments. The wood for the handles comes from sustainable forestry or reclaimed wood. Parts of the instrument bodies are made from recycled material.
The specific design leads to an equally distinctive sound. The instruments are rich in overtones, very open in sound, with a hint of metallic twang that brings out a slight resonator character. The sound really blossoms when they are played and gains in strength and fullness when they fade out.
Bohemian Oil Can instruments are light and can be played comfortably up to the highest registers due to the small body. The construction with a continuous neck to the end of each canister ensures a comfortable weight distribution and balance. If necessary, the removable Rück side panel allows easy access to the inside of the body. The instrument stands by itself due to mounted feet on the underside.
