Saul Hudson, better known as Slash, celebrated huge successes in the 90s with the scandalous band Guns n' Roses. Sold-out stadiums and record sales in the millions paved his way alongside Axl Rose. The guitarist, who hardly anyone ever looked in the eye, had always played Gibson Les Pauls. The Americans have already taken care of the artist with English-African roots several times and tailored several, mostly high-priced, signature models to his body. Slash prefers a noble look with decorative grains of flamed maple.
For the budget-conscious user, Epiphone recently brought out a series of models that are strongly based on the American originals. The Gibson subsidiary draws on the wealth of experience of the parent company. The present model is a "Paula" of classic design. A mahogany body, a glued-in neck made of the same material and a maple top finished with a decorative veneer - the tops of the originals are solid - are the ingredients for a rock guitar that has been built almost unchanged for decades. The Pro Bucker has been adapted to the needs of the musician and delivers a powerful sound, rich in overtones, which shows its strengths especially in distorted settings.
Epiphones Slash Les Paul is more than a homage to a rock guitarist who wrote music history. Cleanly crafted, easy to play and with a look that is close to the original, you really can't go wrong with this model.
