It was more than 40 years ago when Schecter started selling spare parts. The name has long since developed into a guitar brand with models ranging from upmarket entry-level to high-end custom models.
The Reaper 7 Multiscale is an instrument for musicians with high standards. The elaborate design with a so-called Maple-Burl top alone effectively underlines this approach. The further realisation, body made of light sumfoam, a neck composed of five strips, comfortable shapings and an optimal ballance testify to the high manufacturing level. A special treat is the Multiscale, a popular construction method for some years now, in which the frets are inserted in such a way that the scale tapers towards the high string. On 7- and 8-string guitars, this improves the intonation of the sometimes critical low strings. It is always amazing how quickly our brain is ready to translate the changed measurements into automated processes. It only takes a few spiritedly played riffs and the player has already got used to it as if he had never had anything else at hand.
Sound-wise, the Reaper lives up to its classy outfit. The base with a lot of substance and character due to the construction is brilliantly realised by the Diamond Decimeter humbuckers.
The string guide through the body stands for lasting sustain. Crisp rock riffs, where the low string comes across defined, and singing lead sounds are the programme for this guitar.
