After Boss scored with the Katana series and was able to establish a very decent sounding line in the lower price segment, the manufacturer ventures into the upper mid-range. The Japanese are known for repeatedly coming up with innovative concepts after closely observing the market. Since pretty much every major manufacturer is trying to soften the heart of the buyer with their interpretation of modelling amps, Boss' designers take a completely different approach. Based on the realisation that the best electric guitar sound is still produced by tube amps and that the type of tubes decides on the character, the Japanese set about developing a process that is supposed to simulate the mode of action of different tubes 1:1. By means of their patented Tube Logic technology, it is possible to reproduce the dynamics, response and saturation behaviour of the popular glass bulbs. The player can choose between four amplifier tubes, which are known to have provided exactly the right tone in the most important amps of the last 80 years: 6V6, 6L6, EL84, EL34. In addition, there are features that have been tried and tested for a long time, such as digitally generated delay and reverb, power reduction for tolerable volumes, boost function and more.The Nextone combo is currently (as of 2018) available in a 40 and an 80 watt version, which are visually oriented towards the "classic" design of famous predecessors.
