The Blackstar HT-5 is an all-tube amp suitable for use in the studio and at home. It combines the sound and usability of the Blackstar HT tube pedals in a two-channel, footswitchable amp. The ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) circuitry provides a flexible tone control that covers the entire spectrum from American to British tube sounds.To make the HT-5 the optimal tool for home and studio use, the Blackstar HT-5 series was built from the ground up to make the amps sound powerful even at low volumes. With this in mind, the designers have developed a special tube power amp topology. The power amp uses a reduced-power push-pull design that produces the punch and punch of a conventional 100-watt output stage - but at a much lower volume. The key lies in the push-pull configuration of a 12BH7 dual triode, which produces 5 watts of output power and features rich tube harmonics and solid compression.A speaker simulation has been integrated, expanding the range of recording applications and giving guitarists the option of recording tube sounds directly to tape or hard drive, or simply listening to them through headphones. It can emulate the sound of either a 1x12" or a 4x12" guitar cabinet.The MKII version has been revised. On board are now a USB audio interface, two foot-switchable voices for clean and drive channels as well as a studio-quality digital reverb.
