The Japanese company Yamaha has a long history since its foundation in 1889 as one of the largest manufacturers of musical instruments in the world.
The BB series in the company's bass range was developed to provide professional bassists with a resilient workhorse that still sounds good and can be used flexibly. The basis is a five-piece neck made of maple and mahogany, which has a high degree of stiffness, which is conducive to a solid and defined tone with a fast response. For similar reasons, the body is sandwiched between two layers of alder and a layer of maple. The neck joint ensures an effective transmission of vibrations to the body by pulling the neck into the neck shoe with four vertical and two slanted screws. The already very ergonomic shape of the body has been subtly improved and the body itself has been reduced in weight to improve ergonomics.
Soundwise, the bass is quite mid-heavy thanks to its horns, so it pushes well through the mix. Due to the P-/ J-bracing with Alnico V-magnets the instrument fits harmonically into different styles. In contrast to earlier models of the BB series, the pickups now have standard dimensions, so retrofitting is no problem. This makes the BB735 an ideal instrument for anyone looking for popular P and J sounds in a lightweight and comfortable instrument with high manufacturing quality.
