Like most other American manufacturers, MusicMan has sought out low-cost production sites in Asia in order to be able to offer consumers instruments that are similar in design and handling to the incomparably more expensive originals. The Sub 5 is a replica of the StingRay 5, which has been built for many years and is particularly popular with rock bassists.
Like the original, it is equipped with active electronics, which is by no means a matter of course in this price range. The tone develops in a defined way, even on the often critical fifth string. The instrument lies comfortably on the body. Neatly trimmed backs and a slightly flattened neck profile with a matt finish ensure a pleasant playing feel.
