The Precision Bass Affinity has a body made of poplar, the neck is made of maple and has a fingerboard made of the same material. This combination makes for a relatively balanced, warm tone with silky tops, which is picked up by a tonally flexible combination of Jazz Bass single coil and Precision-style split coil. It can be further shaped by means of two volume controls as well as a passive treble shutter. The open tuning machines perform just as reliably as the sheet metal angle brackets. And so the Precision Bass Affinity presents itself as a cheap, but very well-made instrument, especially for beginners. Those interested in a replacement or travel instrument should also take a closer look.
