Squier Affinity Series Jazz Bass IL Race Red

4-string electric bass
The Jazz Bass Affinity has a body made of Agathis, a light Pacific coniferous wood, which has a sound similar to the alder used in Fender jazz basses. Furthermore, the wood is very light, so beginners will have no problems playing the instrument even during long rehearsals or gigs. The slim and easy to play neck is made of maple with an Indian laurel fingerboard. The open tuning machines work just as reliably as the sheet metal angle bridge, both components that are also familiar from the Fender Jazz Bass. Based on this construction, the pickups produce a full and bassy tone, growly in the neck position and slightly nasal at the bridge, which can also be damped with the treble trim if desired, e.g. if the journey is to go in the direction of jazz or 60s Motown-R’n’B. All in all, the Jazz Bass Affinity is a cheap, but very well-made instrument, especially for beginners, but also those interested in a replacement or travel instrument should take a closer look.
