More than 40 years ago, in 1982, the first guitar with the Squier by Fender label appeared on the market. At that time, the Californians had moved production to Japan because of manufacturing problems in Fullerton. At that time, the first Squier Vintage instruments were created, which were distinguished by their high quality and are very sought after by collectors today.
Big companies like to celebrate such anniversaries. This sometimes results in very beautiful products, as in this case the 40th Anniversary P-Bass.
The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960 and soon outstripped its predecessor, the highly successful Precision, as the most played electric bass due to its variety of sound, good playability and balanced ergonomics. Marcus Miller, Stu Hamm and the unforgettable Jaco Pastorius (1987) are three of the greats who used the J-Bass again and again.
The appearance alone tells the prospective buyer that the brand has outgrown the purely entry-level segment. Golden hardware, a gold-coloured anodised pickguard and a flawless fretboard binding together with a fretboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays give a noble overall impression to honour the anniversary appropriately.
The model is made of nato, a wood not unlike mahogany, which is known for its warm and round vibration behaviour. The pickups developed by Fender produce the typical jazz bass sound.
