Mike D'Antonio, bassist of the heavy band Killswitch Engage, received a signature model in Explorer format back in 2016. The new edition with a slightly more unusual look and more in keeping with the heavy genre than its predecessor in bright white, brings a lot of substance to the sound with its solid body made of Okume. The wood, which is similar to mahogany in structure and vibration behaviour, provides foundation and a slight accentuation of the low-mids. The pickups from Seymour Duncan are designed in the best J/P manner and give the instrument character and assertiveness.
The halls were glued together from three strips. This creates stability and a favourable influence on the vibration behaviour.
The design is known to be comfortable to play, even when the user hangs the wood metal-like lower around the shoulders. The long, drawn-out rear horn offers the right arm a reasonable support, there is no trace of top-heaviness. The slim neck with deep cutaway creates playing fun up to the higher registers.
