The Contemporary series is cheaply prefabricated in China, but in a factory and according to Höfner's strict quality specifications. The assembly and quality control is done in Germany. The construction of the HCT Violin Bass is almost identical to the original; the body is made of maple and has a spruce top; the glued-in neck is made of several strips of maple and beech, the fingerboard of rosewood. A significant difference is the large sustain block inside the body, which makes the bass a little heavier than the historical original, but also less top-heavy and a little more bass-heavy. Everything on this instrument is identical to the original in terms of dimensions and holes, so the original hardware can be fitted without drilling and milling. This gives you the original Beatles sound at a very attractive price.
