The Player series replaces the Mexican standard series and brings along some modifications. For example, the CITES regulations of 2017 ensured the use of Pau Ferro for the fingerboard, which however resembles rosewood not only visually but also tonally and is fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets. The neck itself has an easy and comfortable to play modern C-profile and is finished with a matt satin lacquer. Tonally, the instrument is all jazz bass; warm and punchy at the neck and growly nasal at the bridge. The Alnico 5 singlecoils give these familiar tones a slight modern touch, the tone control is as usual via two volume controls and a treble slider.
The workmanship is on a high level, as is typical for Fender, and in combination with the customer-friendly price thanks to Mexico production, the instrument is an ideal choice for all jazz bass fans.
