When Don Randall of Fender Sales asked for a more sophisticated high-end bass model, the result was the now legendary Jazz Bass. The neck was narrower at the nut, giving a faster and more effortless feel, and the slim new body style reflected the Jazzmaster's offset contoured style. By 1966, the instrument's evolution had reached its peak with striking new features.
The model has a comfortable "U"-shaped hard rock maple neck and plays almost by itself due to the rounded rosewood fingerboard with a 7.25 inch radius and high vintage frets. This J-Bass is characteristic of 1966 production and is offered with white neck binding, pearl dots, dual volume controls with master tone, matching lacquered headstock and 4-ply tortoise shell pickguard.
The instruments of the American Vintage II series are direct descendants of the old originals. They are designed for players who appreciate the vintage Fender tone and feel.
