Fender 70s Jazz Bass, RW Black

Originally conceived by Fender as an alternative to the much-vaunted Precision Bass, which was about a decade older, in terms of sound variety, playability and ergonomics, the Fender Jazz Bass was to become one of the two most popular bass models in the history of electrified stringed instruments after its market launch in 1960.In the 1970s, the Jazz Bass underwent several modifications. For example, the fingerboard was bound for better protection of the fingerboard edges and the dot-shaped ply markings were replaced by large block inlays. This also applies to the Classic 70s Jazz Bass and is visually very compatible with the high-quality finish. The neck has a more solid C-profile and a high-gloss lacquer finish, in keeping with the instrument's orientation. The bridge pickup is closer to the bridge than on jazz basses of the 60s or inspired by them and thus produces a brighter, more aggressive and very assertive sound. Together with the fat, warm sound of the neck pickup, this results in several different, practically usable basic sounds that can be adjusted by means of two volume controls and a treble slider. Thanks to the solid wood selection and construction, tones respond quickly and sound stable for a long time.70s jazz basses have the reputation of being very heavy, which is probably also the reason why they lived a real shadowy existence for a while. For this reason, Fender decided to use alder for the body, so that the bass still weighs a healthy 4.3 kg, which can be easily handled with a wide, non-slip strap. Thanks to the production in Mexico, the Classic 70s-J is a very good jazz bass in 70s style at a customer-friendly price.
