The Toby Deluxe has a body made of radiata, a Californian pine species, which is similar in sound to sitka spruce and provides a wide spectrum of tone colours. A special feature is the asymmetrical neck profile, which adds to the playability as it makes the neck feel slimmer. The humbuckers, specially developed and optimised by Epiphone for the Toby, produce an assertive tone with a present treble component, which does well in the area of tension between rock and pop, funk or blues. This can be further shaped with the two controls Tonexpressor (raises or lowers basses and trebles equally) and Master Tone (adjusts the treble part of the sound).Thus, the Toby is an ideal bass for beginners on the instrument, but thanks to its quality also a valuable second instrument for advanced bass players at an extremely customer-friendly price.
