The manufacturer Trace Elliot came into being in the late 1970s when the staff of a small English music shop realised that the PA systems they built and lent to musicians were also popular with bass players in times of under-performing and often poor-sounding bass amplifiers. In the light of this realisation, Fred Friedlein, the owner of the shop, and his staff decided to build bass amps and cabinets based on their good experiences with PA systems. With features such as powerful Mosfet power amps and graphic 11-band equalisers, the amps and cabs in typical Trace Elliot black quickly became very popular among bassists, including Mark King and John Paul Jones.
The BB208 cabinet is characterised by its compact dimensions and low weight of only approx. 12 kg. Nevertheless, it is sturdy and of high quality, a resistant coating protects the cabinet, large rubber tyres ensure stability and the two neodymium full-range speakers from the renowned Faital company are protected by a metal grille. These produce a defined and transparent sound, the character of the instrument is not affected. Even without the horn, the speaker reproduces the high-mids and treble well. Two Speakon/jack combo sockets are available for connection to the amplifier or other cabs.
