In 1996, Italian Marco De Vergiliis, who had previously worked in the amplifier industry, joined Parsek, where he initially worked in marketing, support and sales. However, in the late 90s he met Sterling Ball from Music Man and together they developed Music Man's Audiophile amplifier range. This was also the starting point for the use of lightweight neodymium speakers, for which the Markbass brand, founded by De Vergiliis in 2001, is still known today.
This also applies to the present CMD 121P, which, despite its compact size and low weight of just 12 kg, has no need to hide in terms of sound. On the contrary, the grown-up and warm sound of the small speaker is good both in the living room and in the rehearsal room or studio. Together with an additional speaker, even small and medium-sized Bühnen are no problem. Thanks to the four-band equaliser, the sound can be flexibly shaped in all directions; the VPF and VLE controls also help. While the Variable Preshape Filter lowers the mids and makes the bass sound punchier and more treble-heavy, the Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator adjusts the treble to a certain degree and thus reduces particularly brilliant-sounding B&Ws. All in all, the CMD 121P is an ideal combo for all bassists who don't need huge amounts of power for big basses, but are still looking for a professional sound in a lightweight and compact unit that is still roadworthy thanks to the proven Markbass quality.
