Percussion - from the English percussion from Lat. percussio "beating, "beat", percutere, "to beat" - is the generic term for musical instruments from the field of percussion and effect instruments such as bongos, timbales, cajons, handpans, tambourines, congas, maracas, hand drums, darbukas, frame drums, rainmakers and djembes to name but a few.
