Carl Orff chose certain sound and rhythm instruments for his music education activities. Thanks to his pioneering work as a reform pedagogue, today we refer to "idiophones" - xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels, the "small percussion instruments" - hand drums, triangles, cymbals and rattles, "skin instruments" - various drums and timpani with adjustable pitches, as well as "extended Orff instruments" from other cultures such as the djembé or the agogô as Orff instruments.
